Book Review: A Bump in Life by Amy Ford

TruAdopt • Jan 10, 2017

Reading a book from cover to cover while on vacation is definitely one of my happy places, and ever since Amy Ford handed me a copy of her book,  A Bump in Life , I knew it would find its way on to my packing list. Amy’s book is a compilation of stories from women who faced unplanned pregnancies  —  most at a very young age. Some had support systems, some had none, but all found unconditional love, acceptance and hope through Embrace Grace , a Texas-based nonprofit which provides an array of support services to pregnant women.

Amy founded the organization years after she struggled through her own unplanned pregnancy at 17. Many of the women featured chose to parent and some chose adoption, but each story was told with a strong dose of honesty about the difficult decision each one of these women faced after hearing the words, “You are pregnant.” It’s an inspiring, authentic, must-read from the perspective of birth mothers.
